Katla Geopark and the Icelandic Forestry Association sign a declaration of co-operation

On the 4th of May, Katla Geopark and the Icelandic Forestry Association signed a joint declaration of co-operation with the goals of trying to strengthen and increase interest in forests and forestry within Katla Geopark. Representatives of Skógræktarfélag Mýrdælingar, Skógræktarfélag Mörk and Skógræktarfélag Rangæinga also signed the declaration of cooperation and will work, in collaboration with the Geopark and the Icelandic Forestry Association, to educate and activate younger generations in forestry and promote sustainable nature tourism within the Geopark. The signing of the agreement took place in Kötlusetur in Vík in Mýrdalur and was attended by Elisabeth Bernard, project manager of the collaborative project at the Icelandic Forestry Association; Brynjólfur Jónsson, managing director of the Icelandic Forestry Association; Þorsteinn Jónsson, secretary of Skógræktarfélags Rangæinga; Berglind Sigmundsdóttir, managing director of Katla Geopark; Sigurgeir Már Jensson, chairman of Skógræktarfélag Mýrdælingar and Jón Þorbergsson, chairman of Skógræktarfélag Merkur. After the contract was signed, the participants went out to a small tree field by Skammadalshóll and had a look around there.
