A Visit from Students at the University of Iceland
Every year, the Geopark receives numerous visits from groups, especially school groups, from many different countries. It has become a tradition now that a group of students from the University of Iceland visit the Geopark in September, but the visit is part of the course “Tourism and the Environment” (LAN308G).
The course is taught by Professor Rannveig Ólafsdóttir at the University of Iceland, and her students have visited the geopark every year for the past few years. The students are introduced to both the work of Katla Geopark and Katla Centre with discussion about the various issues related to tourism and culture during the visit.
The geopark would like to thank Rannveig and her students for pleasant visits in the last years. In the accompanying photo, you can see the group of students and Rannveig on the far right, in front of the mural at the Hafnleysa museum in Vík.
