Katla Geopark’s Geoweek 2026

Geo Week 2026 was celebrated last week with many events and offers. The geopark would like to thank everyone who participated in the Geoweek, both companies and individuals who participated and of course everyone who attended events or took advantage of the offers.

As usual, there were offers, events and geopark geoweek products from many companies, e.g. Skool Beans, Lava Show, Valdís Icecream Shop, Katla Wool, Midgard, Ey Collection, Lava Centre, Katla Centre, Hotel Laki, Una Local Product, Vatnajökull National Park, Vík Horse Adventure, Skógar Museum, Iceland Wedding Planner, Gravel Travel,

Many events were held during Geoweek, for example there was an online vote on which outlet glacier should be the outlet glacier of Katla Geopark, presentations about geology within the Geopark in Katla Centre, hike up to Klukknahellir cave, events in Skaftárstofa visitor centre of Vatnajökull National Park and storytelling at Syngjandi in Vík.
