A beautiful waterfall cascades over the cliffs above the farm

Foss á Síðu

Foss á Síðu waterfall is near a farm that shares its name with the waterfall and about 10 km east of the village of Kirkjubæjarklaustur.

The waterfall is in the small river of Þórutjarnarlækur, which originates from a lake called Þórutjörn which is on the heath above the farm. The waterfall cascades down from beautiful cliffs, that used to be sea cliffs, made of palagonite, and the palagonite formations in the cliffs are among the most beautiful you can find.

There is a small parking space and a viewpoint for the waterfall next to the farm and the Dverghamrar geosite is also just east of the waterfall and has a lovely viewpoint of the waterfall and the palagonite formations as well.
